Vidia Targets Tripling of Onsite Capacity of Newly Acquired Plastic Recycling Platform
Vidia Climate Fund I has made its first major investment in the plastic recycling sector by acquiring Best Plastic Management GmbH (BPM) through its newly formed PolymerCycle GmbH. BPM, a family-run business near Bremen, Germany, currently processes 20,000 metric tons of recycled material annually. Vidia plans to scale this capacity to 60,000 metric tons per year, positioning BPM among the top five plastic recycling companies in the DACH region. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance BPM’s CO2 reduction impact, avoiding over 3,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually per million euros invested.
Vidia’s strategy focuses on driving decarbonization by scaling existing climate solutions within the circular economy, electrification, and industrial materials sectors. The acquisition aligns with Vidia’s goal of maximizing both financial returns and environmental impact. Vidia’s operational expertise and capital will support BPM’s growth, optimizing processes and expanding waste stream diversification through further acquisitions under the PolymerCycle platform.
Johanna Struthmann, Founding Partner of Vidia, emphasized the alignment of BPM’s growth potential with Vidia’s investment strategy. Stephanie Kötter-Gribbe, CEO of BPM, highlighted Vidia’s hands-on approach and commitment to operational engagement as key factors in their partnership.
This investment underscores Vidia’s dedication to sustainable development and impactful investment in high-emission sectors.
