planGIS and IEL expand Vidia’s Energy and Climate Consulting platform
planGIS GmbH (“planGIS”) and IEL GmbH (“IEL”) will join Vidia’s Energy and Climate Consulting platform. With planGIS and IEL the platform expands its offering in assessment and development support services with a focus on renewable energy projects.
planGIS and IEL have been collaborating very successfully with GEO-NET for years, making their addition a natural next step. Alongside GEO-NET and anemos, the group now spans a wide array of site and wind resource related GIS and meteorological data and assessment services, as well as noise, shadow, and environmental studies: an integrated partner to plan, permit, optimize and repower renewable energy projects.
planGIS, founded in 2000 in Leer (Germany), is a geoinformation and environmental planning specialist, advising private and public clients, from project developers to municipalities and federal authorities, with a focus on renewable energy, climate protection, and GIS applications. Its interdisciplinary team prepares environmental assessments, studies, and permitting documentation for energy, urban development, and land-use projects.
IEL, based in Aurich (Germany), traces its roots to the engineering office founded by Jürgen Michalk in 1993. Over more than three decades, IEL has become a specialist assessor for wind energy, from yield assessments to noise and shadow-flicker studies as well as accredited noise measurement services. Its contribution is decisive for permitting and performance in the operations phase as well as industrial noise protection.
Both companies will continue to be led independently by their existing teams. At planGIS, Frank Simmering remains Managing Director; at IEL, founder Jürgen Michalk will hand over the business he built, with Monika Bünting continuing in the leadership team. In both cases, succession will be shaped together with Vidia over the long term.
