Partnership with GEO-NET: Meteorological assessments for wind energy and climate analyses
Vidia Climate Fund I partners with GEO-NET Umweltconsulting GmbH (GEO-NET), a leading provider of meteorological assessments and services. Headquartered in Germany, GEO-NET specializes in certified wind energy yield assessments and in-field measurement, as well as climate analysis and adaptation studies. The investment, in partnership between the leadership team at GEO-NET and Vidia, supports the transition to clean energy and climate-resilient infrastructure.
Meeting the Growing Demand for Meteorological Assessments and Services
GEO-NET caters to both the accelerating build-out of onshore wind power internationally, as well as the growing demands for climate analysis and adaptation concepts in urban and real estate development.
GEO-NET addresses these needs with a broad range of services, including wind energy yield assessments, wind potential maps, and extreme wind analyses—critical tools and data for governments, businesses, and wind energy providers. GEO-NET is internationally accredited by DAkkS in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 and recognized as one of the technologically leading players in the industry.
Beyond wind energy, GEO-NET supports cities, communities and private sector players through city climate analyses, air hygiene assessments, and climate adaptation strategies. The company sets itself apart through its sophisticated, in-house-developed models, establishing itself as a trusted and certified partner for both public and private clients.
Founded in 1996, GEO-NET is headquartered in Hanover and Dresden and has built a strong and loyal customer base in Germany and abroad.
Leadership transition ensures continuity and drives future growth
The founders and former managing partners, Peter Trute and Thorsten Frey, have decided to hand over the baton to the second line management composed of Dominik Adler, Johannes Becker, and Dr. Björn Büter, together with Vidia, following many years of successful leadership. This succession, carefully planned to ensure continuity and future growth, preserves the company’s core values while opening the door for new momentum. Going forward, Adler, Becker, and Dr. Büter will lead the company as its new management team.
“After nearly three decades of building GEO-NET into a trusted leader in wind and climate analysis and consulting, we are proud to hand over the company to a strong internal team and a partner who shares our long-term vision,” says Peter Trute, one of the founders of GEO-NET. Co-Founder Thorsten Frey adds “With Dominik Adler, Johannes Becker, Dr. Björn Büter, and Vidia, GEO-NET is well-positioned to continue its mission, grow internationally, and drive innovation in support of the energy transition and climate resilience. We are confident this new chapter will honor the values we’ve built while opening exciting opportunities for the future.”
GEO-NET next development phase
On the back of its strong reputation especially in the German market, GEO-NET is set to serve the growing demand in wind energy assessments, measurements and climate analyses in Germany and abroad. A continued development of the team, the technological basis and the organization overall will support the ongoing growth of the company while ensuring that the high quality standard is maintained. In addition, GEO-NET will continue to explore adjacent services and customer groups, organically or through partnerships, to provide its customers comprehensive solutions.
GEO-NET stands out as a trusted partner, with a long-standing track record and deep technical expertise,
says Stephan Rosarius, Founding Partner at Vidia. “Their work plays a critical role in advancing the energy transition and supporting climate resilience. We are excited to partner with the new management team to build on this strong foundation and support GEO-NET’s next phase of growth.”
